Even more indicative of acceptance level might be a daily plot of the 4 main page-hits-lists:

ZZs data from 2013-06-22:
...12 mo....207
.....6 mo....142
.....3 mo....107
.....1 mo......47

.. SolydXK position on 2013-06-26 ..
...12 mo....189
.....6 mo....129
.....3 mo......89
.....1 mo......36

Anybody know how or where to search their database of the last couple of months?
Instead of day by day.

stelios wrote:So, what they really count is how many times the various distro pages at distrowatch are visited per day per ip address.

Which means the 100 distros displayed on the first page, will always get more hits than any other.
Which also means that SolydXK is placed at #36 in the last month ranking list! Good achievement!!!

According to DistroWatch.com, this is what they do:
Only one hit per IP address per day is counted.

The DistroWatch Page Hit Ranking statistics are a light-hearted way of measuring the popularity of Linux distributions and other free operating systems among the visitors of this website. They correlate neither to usage nor to quality and should not be used to measure the market share of distributions. They simply show the number of times a distribution page on DistroWatch.com was accessed each day, nothing more.
The main counter referred to is the 6 month counter which is presumed to say something about the longevity of a distro. They may have more to do with what seems new. :)

However, it is about the only public metric that exists. As mentioned, it is still played by some: if every body makes a visit every day, then that distro will move up in the ranking. The higher the 6 month number, the more visits the actual distribution may receive which may lead to more people actually using said distro.

It is a favorite of distro-hoppers to look for new developments in a particular area of interest.

I learned about SolydXK while searching for Debian, not Ubuntu, based Xfce distros. I might have found it some other way, but this probably brings in more people sooner.

[EDIT]
Just because I am able to use Debian net-install and build up a usable, personal "distro" doesn't mean I really want to nor that I am as capable as the lead organizers and developers of most distros. I usually get closer to what I want by leveraging the ideas of others. Everybody has personal preferences. It's what makes changing wallpaper so popular. :)

I can't say as I'm surprised at all. Clearly, word travels fast about how terrific SolydXK is.

Yep...
Fantastic.
Great job. I love the XFCE edition. It's a timely alternative to what is out there.

The KDE version ain't chopped liver either I have 2 PCs. One with SolydX, the other with SolydK.

Make that now 3 installations of SolydXK. (I just re-imaged since an un-named distro kept crashing X, with intel drivers)
You guys rock.

This distro should gain a lot of traction within the next couple months. It has a lot going for itself.

Well slipping tho overall been going up from 98,87,86 now at 85.

I have:
1) Sacrificed a Unclean Window users to the Fires of Sol in the Ancient Forest!
2) Posted one of those win an iPhone 6 ads that click thru to distrowatch solydXK
3) Posted one of those win an Nexus 7 ads that click thru to distrowatch solydXK
4) Posted one of those you have a virus on your computer that click thru to distrowatch solydXK
5) Posted one of those secret naked pics of Steve Balmer links that click thru to distrowatch solydXK

Any other suggestions? :P

All kidding aside like seeing it slowly raise. I mean the numbers are not to be taken literally and with a grain of salt.
But the side benefit is getting up high enough to come into viewers eyeballs. As too far down the list is out of sight out of mind= out of consideration.

And in the http://www.reddit.com/r/linuxactionshow anytime posts about considering KDE or about rolling release put my measly 2 cents in. Also comment in blogs review about new distros or reviews about KDE.

As well as any that ask me when they come in and see me working on my desktop and ask that "Cool that's Windows?". My Smile widens like the Cheshire Cat with an evil giggle as I show them with desktop effects on dual displays with 6-8 apps open. Playing music or movies and all my productivity software and point to them my ram usage of 1.5gb-2gb.

And I state No it isn't Windows or Mac. It is completely Free OS designated for the power user to the everyday user that has a few bit of brains left to use a computer. An OS that will be growing the coming Decade! That is more secure and gives more protection against viruses and trojans and nasty little critters of that type. Without the shackles and tie-in of Microsoft or Apple.

"Whhh..aa..ttt? Tell Me More!"...."Come On! Tell ME!"

That's up to the maintainers of Distrowatch. Besides, solydxk-conky is not a standard install.
