I'm afraid that I uploaded a corrupt image.
I've recreated the image and tested on a new SD.
You can download it here: http://downloads.solydxk.nl/solydxrpi/

Now I got SolydX RPI started on my Raspberry PI.
Many thanks for your effort.
(It could also be that I previously made a mistake by unpacking the archive and writing it to the SD card.)

Best regards

Hi,

I previously converted SolydxK to be installed by PINN (fork of NOOBS).
With the arrival of the new RPI3B+ I have returned to see if there was a version of SolydXK available for this new model.
But I see it has been discontinued, apart from a community edition.

Can I ask if this has been or will be upgraded to support the new Pi3B+?
Is there still interest in me including it in PINN?
I think I had around 190 downloads of the previous version I converted.

"Community Edition" here just means: "I'm putting this up but don't hold me responsible if something doesn't work and I don't feel like fixing it". (more realistically: everybody is short of time.)

I installed the Pinn version of SolydX and liked it and I would try it again if you made it work.

That being said I don't think anybody here has a Pi 3B but I might be wrong.

Regarding the known issue which Schoelje noted:
The system hangs regularly. It usually happens when several CPU intensive tasks are writing to the SD. I can only Ctrl-Alt-F2, login as root and reboot.
The system (Xfce session) also hangs if it is idle for some time. Independently it is possible to use Ctrl-Alt-F2 to login to a new terminal session and to work in this mode without restrictions. Therefore I think it is a problem regarding Xfce.
I would like to try to stop Xfce processes and to restart them manually from the shell which I get when logged in after Ctrl-Alt-F2.
But I not know how to do so (which processes should be killed by kill -9 and how I can restart xfce afterward.)

I tested the new image 201806.
I have the same behaviour as before. The system continues to hang after some time when it is idle.

Yes, I have that same behavior on several SD cards and I cannot find the cause of this.

Sorry, I didn't have notifications enabled, so I've only just seen this when I was checking if Solydxk had been updated.

The latest version seems to be from 4/7/2018 here -> https://downloads.solydxk.com/solydxrpi/ - is that correct?

The version in testing linked above seems to be an .ISO version - so it doesn't look like a version for the Raspberry Pi.

Indeed, the testing period is over and you can download SolydX RPi3 here: https://solydxk.com/downloads/community-editions

Ok, so I should use the community edition one instead of the one dated 4/7/2018?

Is there also a 32bit version for the RPi?

Hm, I think those are both the same? At least following Arjens link I ended up in the same directory.

And no, I don't think anybody is working on 32 bit. Due to other responsibilities Grizzler is already behind with the desktop version, he won't have time.

I'm testing this version on a HDMIPI screen - 1280x800 resolution.
It doesn't have a good EDID output, so normally the Pi tries to use it in 1920x1080 mode and it looks terrible - sometimes the screen jumps up and down and scanlines are missed - some sort of internittent timing problem.
So, I normally have to force the correct resolution with hdmi_group=2, hdmi_mode=28 in config.txt, and then it works fine.

When I use these settings with solydxk, it initially starts up in the correct mode, but it soon switches to 1920x1080 when the orange splash screen appears, so it seems these settings are not used universally.

Are there any other settings in solydxk that control the screen resolution?
