2nd attempt finishes without errors
2-install.txt
(6.03 KiB) Downloaded 56 times
there's just a small warning at the end

Code: Select all

 ## INSTALLATION COMPLETE
close failed in file object destructor:
sys.excepthook is missing
lost sys.stderr
solydxk@solydxk ~ $
that wasn't there in previous versions (but this is nitpicking :lol:)

why the previous attempt failed and this was successful i'm going to test a theory that involves screensavers.

@zerozero
Now installing SolydK64 without a problem.
Did you check the md5sum?
I sometimes have to create a new VM to get an ISO to work.

i'm installing in tha metal;
the md5 was checked and is OK;
the 3rd attempt was successful;
the crash was probably a fluke.

Still, perhaps a bad section on the USB?
I just finished installing in VM. Reboot: looks good.

Burned solydx_64-2014-10.iso to a wintec filemate 4 gb usb, using dd.
It booted to live session and installed to metal twice without error, once inn English and Once in German with German Keyboard.
The German install install seems to a real mix up of English and German in the applications. The menu and Firefox are in English.
I tried quick-locale-switcher in Firefox twice but it remains in English. The keyboard change was effective.
The English install was without problem on a quick look.

Just downloaded:
solydk64_201410.iso 10-Oct-2014 17:50 1.7G
solydk64_201410.iso.md5sum 10-Oct-2014 17:50 48

Unfortunately md5sum didn't match (and therefore iso would not boot) ... I'll have to try downloading again. :cry:

Update: (13 Oct 2014)
Live session and install went well, no issues with installed OS other than having to enter password each boot for wireless network.
Nice job! Great work, thank you.

Can you post the output of:

Code: Select all

apt search de$ | grep ^i

I have installed and localized (German) both SolydK BE and SolydK64 and wasn't able to reproduce your issue:

As an Example of the mixed up languages
mixedßlanguage.png
and the search you requested.

Code: Select all

jim@xtger ~ $ apt search de$ | grep ^i
i amd64-microcode - Processor microcode firmware for AMD CPUs
i   aptitude                        - terminal-based package manager
i   dmidecode                       - SMBIOS/DMI table decoder
i intel-microcode - Processor microcode firmware for Intel CPU

On your system, none of the localized packages were installed.
Did you have an internet connection while installing the system?

This is my live-installer output:

Code: Select all

 --> Setting the locale
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "locale-gen"
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "update-locale LANG='de_DE.UTF-8'"
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "update-locale LANG=de_DE.UTF-8"
 --> Setting the timezone
 --> Localizing the system (de_DE)
>> start update
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-get update"
 --> Localizing AbiWord
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-get install --yes --force-yes aspell-de"
 --> Localizing Firefox
    > package = firefox-l10n-de-de
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-cache search firefox-l10n-de-de"
    > package = firefox-l10n-de
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-cache search firefox-l10n-de"
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-get install --yes --force-yes firefox-l10n-de"
 --> Localizing Thunderbird
    > package = thunderbird-l10n-de-de
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-cache search thunderbird-l10n-de-de"
    > package = thunderbird-l10n-de
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-cache search thunderbird-l10n-de"
chroot /target/ /bin/sh -c "apt-get install --yes --force-yes thunderbird-l10n-de"
I did not have any problems after a reboot.

Sidetracked again... Absolutely perfect metal install from solydk64_201410.iso. Burned it to usb using dd as usual, installed in my usual multiboot setup, to sda14 with grub in the pbr, no plymouth... Rebooted a couple times (no issues), having installed nvidia from the welcome screen/ddm... I usually do nvidia with the terminal, but an extra little test there, again no issues. Brought up all the apps, posting from it now. How utterly boring... :D

Trying the SolydX 201410 now...

Edit:

And... (Drum Roll)... Yet another (Pleasantly!) boring experience with solydx64_201410.iso, same as above.

Looks like a go from here.....

I tried testing ISO.
As a result, a problem occurred for installation in Business Edition. I report it.
(This problem does not occur in Home Edition. The screen pic is SolydX BE, but confirms a problem in SolydK BE)

It is in a condition that installation stopped after language setting of thunderbird was over.
I input "live-installer" from Terminal and was able to output the log.
This may be testing or a language dependent problem. (The language chooses "Japanese")

@balloon
I may have solved that bug.
I am testing it now and when I'm done I'll have to rebuild the BE ISOs and upload them.

All new ISOs were uploaded: http://downloads.solydxk.nl/dev
Balloon's bug has been resolved in the BE/BO editions (but test it just the same ;) )
