Lots of Gnome related items with version number 3.14 today. Forced me to switch to a different theme as all option and radio buttons in GTK+3 GUIs disappeared with the one I was using (Greybird; oxygen-gtk doesn't work either). Also messed up Evince which no longer remembers all of the screen positions it's supposed to use.

the chromium upgrade to v.38 brings a good number of bugs.
the 2 major problem i faced are described here > https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=764275 and if i managed to workaround the first one, not having sync (specially after having to remove ./config/chromium so that it could start was a no-go.

downgraded to 37.0.2062.120-3.

downgraded to 37.0.2062.120-3.
38.0.2125.101-2 fixes (almost) all these issues, except the missing google API keys, and without it sync doesn't work.
this workaround solved it for me.

so far i only saw it in synaptic (SolydK);
some GUI elements are not drawn properly

this bug report (against gtk3-engines-oxygen) describes the problem but in the end of the day is the transition from gtk3.12 to gtk3.14 that is causing this.

a problem today with libjpeg-progs (that i could most likely just purge and done!) but had to go the hard way

Code: Select all

Unpacking libjpeg-progs (1:9a-2) over (1:1.3.1-3) ...
dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/libjpeg-progs_1%3a9a-2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/djpeg.1.gz', which is also in package libjpeg-turbo-progs 1:1.3.1-3
Processing triggers for man-db (2.7.0.2-1) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libjpeg-progs_1%3a9a-2_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
i don't like to do this but sometimes

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/libjpeg-progs_1%3a9a-2_amd64.deb

I had that issue also. But I just removed it.
I figured I have so many packages on this system I probably don't use, If I needed it something would tell me and I would reinstall that package and deal with the issue then. Problem with some of these they have other dependencies that won't let you remove without destroying most of your system.

We have the same issue with Gtk3.14/greybird/evolvere.

I found this as well: https://github.com/numixproject/numix-i ... ssues/1190

synaptic displays normally with evolvere; on the other hand evince, simple scan and baobab look completely different.

Code: Select all

257 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 130 MB of archives.
After this operation, 4,145 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] Y
this is mostly a maintenance update: almost all the packages are <same-version-as-before+b#>

Anyone having this?

Code: Select all

critical bugs of grub-pc-bin (2.00-22 → 2.02~beta2-15) <Outstanding>
 b1 - #741464 - grub-pc-bin: freezes after "terminal_input at_keyboard"
grave bugs of grub-pc (2.00-22 → 2.02~beta2-15) <Outstanding>
 b2 - #765540 - missing symbol
Summary:
 grub-pc(1 bug), grub-pc-bin(1 bug)
Cannot find recent info about it.

No more info than what's in the bug reports (they do have some recent postings):
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=741464
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=765540

Both seem to be rather unusual and tied to a particular setup. Certainly haven't seen anything like it here.

Thanks, grizzler.

It's affecting all my VMs tracking Jessie. Not only SolydXK. Gonna go through them and see if I can find a turnaround.

Put those two packages on hold and running fine. Trying to find those supposedly problematic .gmo directories.
