ZZ,
Used the following cli command:
sudo apt-get -s purge brasero brasero-common libbrasero-media3-1 gnome-desktop3-data libzeitgeist-1.0-1 nautilus-data zeitgeist-datahub

Which removed the programs inclucing Cairo-Dock.

Ran the following cli command:

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends cairo-dock

Which re-installed my Cairo-Dock, here is the output now from the following cli command:
sudo apt-get -s purge brasero brasero-common libbrasero-media3-1 gnome-desktop3-data libzeitgeist-1.0-1 nautilus-data zeitgeist-datahub

sudo apt-get -s purge brasero brasero-common libbrasero-media3-1 gnome-desktop3-data libzeitgeist-1.0-1 nautilus-data zeitgeist-datahub
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package 'brasero' is not installed, so not removed
Package 'brasero-common' is not installed, so not removed
Package 'libbrasero-media3-1' is not installed, so not removed
Package 'gnome-desktop3-data' is not installed, so not removed
Package 'nautilus-data' is not installed, so not removed
Package 'zeitgeist-datahub' is not installed, so not removed
The following packages will be REMOVED:
cairo-dock* cairo-dock-plug-ins* cairo-dock-plug-ins-dbus-interface-python*
libzeitgeist-1.0-1*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 4 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Purg cairo-dock [3.3.2-0~testing]
Purg cairo-dock-plug-ins-dbus-interface-python [3.3.2-0~testing]
Purg cairo-dock-plug-ins [3.3.2-0~testing]
Purg libzeitgeist-1.0-1 [0.3.18-1]

Sooooo the $64.00 question is.......will this install of Cairo-Dock bork my SolydX system later on or am I now good to go?

ok, if you already have a good backup 8-) let's get some real work done

[share the outputs all the way]

1- let's remove for good those packages (we know by now that cairo-dock is going to be removed in this move, it's ok, we will try something different with the next command)

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge brasero brasero-common libbrasero-media3-1 gnome-desktop3-data libzeitgeist-1.0-1 nautilus-data zeitgeist-datahub
2- let's install cairo-dock without the additional garbage (at least we try  )

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends cairo-dock
let's see how it goes
bliss of ignorance
