thunderbird update

Postby Albert » 01 Apr 2014 16:10

I assume that thunderbird updates are distributed to us just like the rest of the files. However, I have been getting notices saying that Thunderbird 24.4.0 is ready for download. Apparently, these notices are from Mozilla. Are these notices authentic? How should I respond?

It is authentic. By default, TB phones home (Mozilla) to determine if a newer version is available. This can be turned off.

SolydXK compiles TB and FF from source and releases the updated package(s) as either security updates (if necessary) or as part of the normal Update Pack.

I ignore the notifications.

problems; usually it's the best way to destroy an install"

This can be turned off.
In case you don't know where to go to do that:

Goto "Edit" then "Preferences" then "Advanced" then the "Update" Tab and uncheck
Automatically check for updates to:
