[Solved] SSH server

Postby toothandnail » 20 Jul 2013 14:17

:) Shows how unfamiliar I am with the Debian way of doing things. I've just installed the latest SolydX on a desktop machine, and run the update pack. Most of the things I need are there, but...

I need the SSH server, but I'm not sure whether the server itself is installed, nor how to set it up - it doesn't appear in System > Services. So can someone tell me which package contains the server (looked through Synaptic, but didn't recognize the server package) and how I set it active?

Thanks.

Paul

You will need to manually install it from CLI with:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install openssh-server
Or you can use Synaptic.
The instructions suggested Windows XP or better, so I installed Linux :)

:) Thanks. I found it shortly after entering the message. No idea why, but I didn't see openssh-server in the Synaptic list, but did pick it up with apt-get.

Paul.
