<solved> internet crashing and won't reconnect

and it won't restart unless i reboot my system.

the network connection device says the ethernet connection is not managed. when i manually add it it does nothing different.

so what does manage my ethernet connection and how do ii manage it.

and why is it that only synaptic won't allow me to scroll with my mouse wheel?

manually installed openconnect pligin for gnome and things seem to be better. i unplu and plug ethernet and it works now.....

I've found that Ethernet works despite it not being managed by Network Manager. However, I do like the idea of "all network connections under one roof" so to get Network Manager to also manage wired Ethernet you can edit the NM config file:

/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
and change the relevant line to

Code: Select all

managed=true

I'm not sure that openconnect made a difference. Following the advice of klinglerware on this thread seems to suffice.
