Funny you should mention that because it won't let me change style/colours or icons in Appearance, the only thing that will change is the drawing of the window frames, like Crux for example, changes the outlines but no colours. I like the Gnome-Noble icon set too but it won't change to it either. It's not a big deal, SolydX looks OK out-of-the-box and I like not garish, it's not distracting.

Like GeneC, I also have one: http://imagebin.org/301977 in the icon set I use (Elementary XFCE Darker)

But just to be sure I changed to the default icon set (Oxygen) and there is one there also: http://imagebin.org/301978

So I'm guessing that its either your icon set or something else has happened to your thunar config (has happened to me before).

Are you using the default theme (oxygen-gtk)? Yeah, I have never been able change anything in that theme either, to include the icon set. Change the theme, logout/in and then you can change things to your heart's content (just don't go back to oxygen-gtk).

An old issue (feature.. :lol: ..). You have to change the theme logout/in, (or something similar) then it lets you change icons.. Something about Oxygen theme/icon dependencies.. I forget just what. I deleted all Oxygen themes/icons/cursors from SolydX (now SolydG)...

You can also install and use xfce-theme-manager. Its in the repos.

You are probably right, I have root and home on separate SSDs and an NTFS HDD, it's not the average 1 SSD/HDD install, lol. Check out this post. :|

Edit: Thanks for all the suggestions/help. 8-)

i think this issue is not related to the iconset/theme;
with vanilla theming it's here

there's (at least) 3 topics that discuss similar problem:

one of the users has a peculiar solution for the problem here >> http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php? ... =20#p23359

here we discuss maintaining or overwriting config files during update and at some point this trash question popsup also

looks like the simplest solution (and most of the times the simplest is the most effective)
bliss of ignorance

Actually, I logged out and back in and the icon is there. This is after fiddling with styles/icons but putting them back to Oxygen before logging out. That's probably what happened before, the other times it disappeared, I fiddled with Appearance settings not knowing about the logout/login trick. Oh well, it's all good. :)

Update: The weirdest thing, had trash icon in Thunar before shutting down, shut completely down, restarted, no trash icon in Thunar, logged out and back in, trash icon is there. I wish there was a *scratching head* smiley, lol. :?

I changed my 'style' to Crux and the icon set to Gnome-Noble, logged out and back in, colours changed, icons changed, trash icon in Thunar.

What's really weird is I shut completely down like before (read earlier post), booted, logged in, voila, trash icon is in Thunar, looks like you guys are right, this is most likely a glitch/bug with the oxygen icon set and/or style. :shock: :? :)
