Incorrect Mirrors List After SolydX32 Update 31/1/15

Postby odo5435 » 06 Mar 2015 12:56

After today's manual update the Update Manager does not seem to recognise the correct mirrors. For economic reasons I prefer to use the mirror at Internode in Australia which happens to be my ISP (=unmetered and much faster). After several retries I decided to manually configure the 'sources.list' file to match that of another updated machine also running SolydX32 and which had no problems recognising the correct mirrors - one for just about every country in the world.

Currently, my sources list is:

Code: Select all

asuseeepc:~$ inxi -r
Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list
           deb http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/solydxk/repository/ solydxk main upstream import
           deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian jessie main contrib non-free
           deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free
           deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian/ jessie-backports main contrib non-free
           Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/opera.list
           deb http://deb.opera.com/opera/ stable non-free #Opera Browser (final releases)
but Update Manager looks like this:
07.png
Not What It Should Be
If they're of any help, here are some specs:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
System: Host: asuseeepc Kernel: 3.16.0-4-586 i686 (32 bit gcc: 4.8.4)
           Desktop: N/A Distro: SolydXK 1 solydxk
Machine:   System: ASUSTeK product: 1005P v: x.x
           Mobo: ASUSTeK model: 1005P v: x.xx
           Bios: American Megatrends v: 0603 date: 12/15/2009
Edit = Oops, added the wrong attachment. :oops:

You probably haven't updated the UM to the latest version: 2.6.0
If you have, please reinstall and make sure to answer "Yes" when asked to overwrite any configuration files.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install --reinstall updatemanager
You also need an internet connection. UM needs to fetch the mirrors list from the server: http://repository.solydxk.nl/mirrors.list

SolydXK needs you!

I'm afraid that hasn't worked. UM was showing version 2.6.0 so I re-installed and rebooted the system. If it's of any use, here is the result of running the command

Code: Select all

asuseeepc:~$ sudo apt install --reinstall updatemanager
[sudo] password for mark:
Sorry, try again.

I've just updated the UM. It checks some settings in the conf file after installation.
If things still go wrong, you can start the UM with the -c argument to re-create the configuration file:

Code: Select all

updatemanager -c

SolydXK needs you!

Nope, not having success with this either

Code: Select all

asuseeepc:~$ updatemanager -c
upd=2015.01.31
upd=2015.01.31
upd=2015.01.31
upd=2015.01.31
updatemanager [options]

Options:
  -p (--pref): Show the preference window
  -q (--quick): Quick upgrade
  -t (--tray): Load the tray icon only
  -f (--force): Force start in a live environment
  -u (--clear-upd): Clear Update Pack history
  -h (--help): Show this help
I seem to recall reading somewhere previously that you mentioned something along the lines of your system tweaks not filtering down to international repositories until they re-synced or somesuch with you. Internode reckon they re-sync daily so I'll give it a couple of days and try again. You've probably read elsewhere that I intend, very shortly, to be sitting by a pool sipping on a Bintang. This is exactly the sort of problem I can fall back on to occupy some time when I get sick of doing that job.

This is a minor problem anyway, more an annoyance than anything else. Apart from this issue, the recent upgrade seems to have worked admirably well on this installation and UM is using the right mirrors due to my manual changes. If it still isn't working as it should after a couple of weeks I might resurrect this thread.

It's more of a cosmetic thing. Thank you very much for your assistance @Schoelje but I'm sure you've got bigger bushfires to put out.
