Update Notifications

Postby wildman » 27 Jul 2017 21:28

After the upgrade to SolydX 9 a few days ago, I was not getting any update notifications. I was told in another thread that I should. After some poking around in Synaptic I installed pk-update-icon and that pulled in apt-config-auto-update. After rebooting I immediately got an update notification. That was yesterday and I got another one today without rebooting so everything is working as it should.

What I was wondering is whether those two packages are part of the ISO or is something else done concerning updates? Since I upgraded I did not use the ISO.

BTW I first installed SolydX back in January of 2014 and I have upgraded/updated ever since. I have had no need to do a fresh install. That says volumes about the quality and stability of a well maintained SolydX system.

Yes, pk-update-icon is part of the ISO. It seems to have been forgotten in the update script.
