gksudo - kdesudo

Postby old_guy » 16 Sep 2013 01:36

Small concern.

Clicking on the Update Manager in the System Tray - brings up a gksudo password box to start - and it shows in the panel running on for 20 seconds or more after Update Manage has started.

Selecting Update Manager from the main menu - brings up a kdesudo password box and works well.

It looks like from the System Tray it calls updatemanager.py while from the menu it calls updatemanager.

I can't figure out how to add/delete or change items in the System Tray

It looks like updatemanager.py should be modified or the System Tray changed so that Update Manager uses kdesudo, but like I said it is a small concern. It would help SolydK be more "KDEcentric".

Hi Earl,

Welcome to the SolydXK forums (don't think I ever said hi).

Schoelje is currently working on a new UM with some major changes.
Don't know if the password box is relative to those changes but here's a link that might give a little bit of insight into what some of those changes are.

I'm a bit KDE challenged, new to KDE but ever since I installed SolydK I'm wondering why I never tried it before ...
... I'm really enjoying it. Saw a few of your other posts here and there and it appears that you've used KDE for a while.
