Surpised by New Ram usage.

Postby Orbmiser » 22 Sep 2013 20:03

Just wondering if anyone is aware of less ram usage.
Last month running steadily to desktop was 450'ish mb.

Now just booted up today and showing 365mb. Whoaa!
Rebooted twice and staying at that level.
A fluke? Improved KDE resource handling?
Or I made my sandwich with the wrong kind of Mushrooms?

Code: Select all

zerozero@k32-09 ~ $ inxi -I
Info: Processes: 180 Uptime: 25 min Memory: 308.0/16139.8MB Client: Shell (bash) inxi: 1.9.12
with 32bit you can get an even lower memory usage.
and yes, it's a combination of factors:
  • the new kde for sure
  • the new kernel probably
  • debian surely 8-)
bliss of ignorance

Cool makes it even more viable alternative on less capable machines with only 2gb of ram.
And shrinking the gap of those other lightweight distro's.

Resource hog? I think not! :o
