Message Indicator Issues

Hello hello...

Having a bit of trouble with getting the Message Indicator applet to work with Kopete and Thunderbird. Every time I click on the envelope icon, it tells me that I need to "enable support for Message Indicator in (my) Application". I've never had to before, and I've tried configuring it in Kopete and there's nothing in there to enable it... at least not that I'm seeing. Google's turned up nothing.

Is this a bug? Or am I completely daft and missing something?

I don't know about Kopete, but I was running Quassel and I had to check the option "Show message in application indicator" in preferences. Doesn't Kopete have something like that?

Couldn't find anything like that in Kopete. The closest I could find was putting an icon in the system tray, which I've done. Perhaps it's a minor glitch in that version of KDE; I'm more used to (and prefer) KDE 4.9.5, for it's worked the best for me.

Not a deal-breaker, though, and am willing to wait it out until 4.9.5 makes it to the production repo.

All in good time  . If you don't upgrade early, then you're looking at whenever it migrates to Debian Testing (I'm betting on July I think), so July/August UP is my bet.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled on this thread here: http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=172 - if a month or so goes by and those who HAVE upgraded don't report any problems, I might pull the trigger and do so, myself.

Then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...?

(but if I didn't try and break it, what kind of Linux user does that make me?)

I'm not seeing a single problem yet, other than losing my settings when I get a new solydk-system-adjustments and that's not even a KDE issue.

Get your suit on and dive on in. The water's fiiiiine!

Don't use kopete it really sucks it's aged sadly and shows why kde it dropping it slowly. go with kde-telepathy its a metapackege you can find in the debian testing/solydK repos. Its like kopete well its a rewrite of kopete but you can add a indicator to your bar and it supports facebook and stuff, i dunno personal preference but most distros have made the change even fedora! :D
