Dolphin & random .fuse_hidden000 files

Postby Orbmiser » 10 Apr 2014 18:04

Working with Ntfs external usb drives in Dolphin. And for some strange reason I occasionally get these .fuse_hidden files of individual images or files I have already right click deleted. And wonder why they are still there?

Have also ended up with huge .fuse files that were over 1gb in size! Which I promptly deleted.

This a random occurrence and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?
A known bug? Can't seem to find out about this filetype much even with google as to it's function and bugs that exist for .fuse type files.

Orbmiser,

Although you note in your post you "delete" the file, I thought I'd chime in just in case. I noticed this behavior with several file types if I would send a file to "trash" from an external HDD then later empty the trash with the HDD disconnected or not mounted.

Yep something to do with how Linux deals with Ntfs files. And yep never use the trash and can just right-click and delete as saves an extra step to remember to take out the Trash! :o

For me not a big thing but an annoyance. That I have to pay attention to. As one time was converting a 300mb mp4 to avi and ran out of room on the drive which had me scratching my head as had over 5gb free last I checked. Was 2 fuse hidden files eating up almost 4gb's! Which was very strange.

And these drives are part of my daily work flow and always connected as all my personal data and work are on multiple external Ntfs usb drives. As saves huge amount of time when backing up and restoring my linux partitions. By keeping my root and /home at 10gb each.

Same here although don't think you can blame Dolphin...

I 'cleaned' my windows partition with dd if=/dev/zero etc. before making a compressed backup. Removed the big 'big zero' file, but later I discovered a .fuse_hidden file of Gigabytes of lenght, because it was probably all zerozero's it didn't affect the size of the compressed backup too much...
