Changes in KDE 4.13 - Where is the “Login Manager”?

Postby Gonzalo_VC » 18 Aug 2014 13:01

Dear friends,
The tool for having KDE auto-login is not here any more (I have re-installed SolydK 64 in a machine with problems, remember?).
I have to enter the password every time, and cannot find the tool in the Configurations utility, nor some help on-line (this does not apply any more: http://www.freetechie.com/blog/kubuntua ... uto-login/ ).

I'll be glad to hear from you, wiser users
Cheers.

If you installed from the latest iso.
The auto login is now in lightdm manager.
They removed KDM from the system.
See if that works.

If you want it in System Settings install lightdm-kde-greeter. The gtk version is installed as default for coherence amongst SolydK and SolydX as zerozero explained somewhere. But if you use KDE exclusively, who cares.
This likely means that your installation is broken. -Mr Pixbuf.

I just need the system to boot directly into desktop for users to start working, for they do not know the password (I am the admin ;) ). This way, password is only used by me when updating or installing new applications.
So, auto-login is a must, as It is set in every other SolydXK machine I have at the university (~9).

It is done. THANKS!
And I'm sorry I never looked inside that application, because I never use it (just leave the default from the distro), in fact. It was more than easy!!
