[SOLVED] Can't find DST status configuration

Postby BostonPeng » 02 Jan 2016 19:44

A while back I realized that my system insisted that Daylight Saving Time was still in effect despite having ended several weeks previously. I found a fix here in the forums, but when I reinstalled my system last week I found that my system thinks that it is still Daylight Saving Time. I've looked high and low, both on the boards here and with DDG, but can't find the command to run in the terminal to tell the system DST is off. The time's right, but when I check the time it shows DST is on for some reason.

I suggest you need to set your hardware clock to UTC, rather than local time. Then, if the timezone is set correctly, your local time should also show correctly and be adjusted automatically for DST. See How to set the clock in Debian 8 for more details:

Code: Select all

sudo timedatectl set-local-rtc 0
and to see if DST is active:

Code: Select all

$ timedatectl status
...
 RTC in local TZ: no
  DST active: no
...

Thanks, Zill. That's exactly what I was looking for. I'll mark the thread [SOLVED].
