Problem after Migration

Postby spanner44 » 15 Mar 2013 00:07

I have just migrated from the unofficial Kde on LMDE to SolydK, following the instructions on the install manual, but now if I do an apt-get update, after it reading package lists I have an error. I have posted the code below.

Code: Select all

did you follow the howto http://solydxk.nl/community/tutorials/#lmdekde step by step?
i ask this because something is not right with your sources.list, basically no conversion was done. one line was added deb http://packages.solydxk.nl/ solydxk main upstream import but at the same time instead of replacing the mint repos you have them doubled.

did you managed to dist-upgrade, or it gives you error and doesn't allow to proceed?

what is the output of

Code: Select all

lsb_release -a

What I did is follow the guide in the Tutorials section
5. Upgrade from the unofficial LMDE KDE / Xfce

Users running the unofficial LMDE KDE can convert to SolydK by installing a meta package: solydk-meta.
Follow these steps:

su
echo "deb http://packages.solydxk.nl/ solydxk main upstream import" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
apt-get update
apt-get install solydxk-keyring
apt-get update
apt-get install solydk-meta
apt-get update
dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq solydk-meta
reboot
After running the lsb_release -a this is what i get

Code: Select all

jason@spanner:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: SolydXK
Description: SolydK
Release: 1
Codename: debian
jason@spanner:~$

Okay, thanks for your help.

I was wondering whether to manually change the sources list, but didn't want to fiddle and mess them up without some advice and what they need to exactly say.

Will wait for further advice.

Must add though, besides this problem, rest seems to run really well. Well pleased with this distro.

Backup your current sources.list in case you want to use some of the repositories in there later:

Code: Select all

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.bak
Change your sources file:

Code: Select all

kdesudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list
And paste this, replacing all that you have now:

Code: Select all

deb http://packages.solydxk.com/ solydxk main upstream import
deb http://debian.solydxk.com/production testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.solydxk.com/production/multimedia testing main non-free
deb http://debian.solydxk.com/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
Save and close.
Update:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
To be sure, reinstall the keyring and meta package:

Code: Select all

apt-get install solydxk-keyring --reinstall
apt-get update
apt-get install solydk-meta --reinstall
apt-get update
dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq solydk-meta
Reboot and pray. ;)

Right, done this and when I now do apt-get update I now get this, with no errors, so hopefully it looks okay, perhaps you can confirm that this looks alright.

Now the update manager is saying that I need to do 454 recommended updates, I presume that this is correct and I should proceed, or should I do something in Konsole ?

It looks good. I think it's safe to upgrade.
Do that either with the update manager or konsole.

Sorry, I have just seen your message but have already updated. I did it with update manager and if it said replace files query, I always kept the existing/older file, as I didn't want anything to break and thought this was the right policy.

Anyway the output of inxi -r is :

Code: Select all

jason@spanner:~$ inxi -r

Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-talkplugin.list

Hope that this is okay and thanks for all your help.
