Firefox multi-language problem

Postby Bequimão » 02 Jun 2013 09:52

Hi all,

glad to find a KDE distribution base on Debian testing. I use siduction and Brazilian Epidemic GNU/Linux which is also based on Debian testing. Perhaps we can borough some useful stuff from you.

I am not satisfied with one language only. It has to be a multi-language configuration, in my case German and Brazilian Portuguese.
First, I changed the locale of root in a text terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F1) as the language in Firefox is bound to it.

Code: Select all

# dpkg-reconfigure locales
# dpkg-reconfigure console-setup
# dpkg-reconfigure console-data
## console-data has to be installed
# dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
When I install German packages of FF, the Brazilian ones will be removed

Code: Select all

solydkbox bequimao # LANG=C apt-get install firefox-l10n-de
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  firefox-l10n-pt-br
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  firefox-l10n-de
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B/8774 kB of archives.
After this operation, 16.4 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
This problem does not occur with the iceweasel packages.

Best regards,
Bequimão
