smxi vs update packs

Postby Deleted User 2763 » 23 Jun 2013 00:31

Guys,
I'm getting ready to distro hop from Pear to SolydK on my laptop. I already have a desktop using SolydX. On it, I'm tracking SID, so I use smxi to manage it.
On the laptop, I plan on being a little more conservative since laptops are truly different beast. However, I am curious about the differences in say using the update packs vs the apt-get dist-upgrade method for keeping the Debian testing part up to date. Opinions? insights?
Thanks.

Safest would be to use the default SolydXK repositories: using Update Packs with the Update Manager.
Anything else, you'd need the terminal a lot.
