Live DVD / USB blank screen

Postby Fintan » 29 Jun 2013 06:27

Hello to all. I was intrgued by some press releases and wanted to try this distro.

I downloaded the latest version (yestreday) and burned a DVD and made a USB with UNetbootin.

I have tried all three boot options on both media's and only get to a black screen.

Here are my Harware specs:
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7
4 GB Ram

Any ideas would be helpful as I would really like to try this distro. :)

I have similar problem. I made usb with unetbootin and when it didn't work (pendrive is brand new), I burned image to DVD.

All it gives, is a blank screen.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 (64bit) at the moment.
I downloaded SolydK (64-bit) and I did check md5sum and it matches :).

I also have HP laptop (probook 4730s).

I have succesfully installed Linux Mint Debian Edition Cinnamon once.

if you hit the escape key while it's booting, you should see the console messages while it's booting. It seems like a graphics driver problem.

When booting from dvd, it gives the graphical solyd-logo, then on gray background it manages to load something (in text-mode) and then it goes just blank and dvd stops spinning. Computer doesn't seem to do anything.

Hitting Esc doesn't help, none of the keys on keyboard doesn't seem to help.

And from pendrive it doesn't get even that far.
