If you have /home on a separate partition, the default behavior is to NOT format that partition, thus keeping /home as-is.

After you selected your /home partition to mount it as /home, you can check that by right-clicking on that partition.
If you select "Edit", you'll see it's NOT going to be formatted.

If you do the same for the root (/) partition, you'll see it's going to be formatted.

hello twgs 8-) welcome to SolydXK
i'm not a fan of installations (re)using old homes; the amont of config conflicts you can run into is hard to track (even when the same DE and similar releases);
here we know (at least) that the distros are not necessarily compatible; the safest option is to use a different username and different p/w (but i know that it defeats the idea behind keeping the same home across installs)
if you want to give this a try, maybe this will help

One thing I always do is say
rename /home/hinto to /home/hinto.bak
then let the installer do what it does and make /home/hinto.
I then move any files and directories (like .mozilla, .thunderbird) from /home/hinto.bak to /home/hinto

the procedure hinto follows is safer if you want to (re)use some of the data from the old home.
