nvidia settings not retained (solved with script)

Postby THN » 25 Aug 2020 17:28

Hi

I was running

Code: Select all

sudo nvidia-settings
a couple of times now to force the full composition pipeline (stop screen tearing), including a save to

Code: Select all

/etc/X11/20-nvidia.conf
but for some reason this always gets lost across reboots.

Any way to make SolydK re-use those settings?

Tx

I searched the internet for "nvidia-settings save debian" and found lots of postings from the last 5 years - it seems to be a persistent problem. Since I do not have nVidia I cannot test any of the proposed solutions. If nothing else works try a startup script as workaround like here https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments ... aving_fix/.

As a side note: I know why I stick with AMD. nVidia is more or less boycotting Linux whereas AMD is very active in kernel module developement.

OK, so the right command for scripting the mode change can be found here
and it can simply go to the end of your ~/.profile

This can be closed as SOLVED.
