I ran these commands on SolydK64 without any issues:

Code: Select all

wget https://codeload.github.com/lwfinger/rtl8188eu/zip/master
unzip master
cd rtl8188eu-master
sudo make
sudo make install

The difference being "sudo make...." instead of "make...." ?

make doesn't need sudo

Code: Select all

zerozero@k32 ~/rtl8188eu-master $ make
make ARCH=i386 CROSS_COMPILE= -C /lib/modules/3.11-2-486/build M=/home/zerozero/rtl8188eu-master modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-3.11-2-486'

i thought at first that being a i486 kernel could have something to do with the errors but it compiles fine.

tux-world
sometimes a not-so perfect download or extraction can cause strange errors.
my advice is to re-download it again (following Schoelje post above) and do again

Code: Select all

make

Code: Select all

sudo make install

another approach
if compiling doesn't work you can install firmware-realtek 0.41 from sid (if i'm reading it correctly it has support for this new chipset)
This package contains the binary firmware for some Ethernet adapters with the RTL8111/RTL8168 chips supported by the r8169 driver; and wireless network cards with the RTL8188, RTL8192, RTL8712, RTL8723 and RTL8821 chips supported by the r8192_pci, r8192s_usb, r8712u, rtl8188eu, rtl8192ce, rtl8192cu, rtl8192de, rtl8192se, rtl8723ae and rtl8821ae drivers.
Realtek RTL8188EU firmware (rtlwifi/rtl8188eufw.bin)

Code: Select all

wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/f/firmware-nonfree/firmware-realtek_0.41_all.deb

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i firmware-realtek_0.41_all.deb
bliss of ignorance

I know that, but schoelje apparently didn't.....:-) See his post just before mine. Hence my question mark..
