Since the last update i lost sound on my laptop SolydX.

I use an HP NC6320 i can switch on and off the sound but I don't hear anything. What i do see is that beside the speaker-icon stands a red cross.
How can i check whether i have the correct driver? How can i restore my sound?

can you share the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -Axx
===
also, start alsamixer from the terminal and check to see if the levels are all ok.
within alsamixer if you hit F6 you get a menu to pick the default sound card, which one is there selected as default?

the command to start alsamixer is

Code: Select all

alsamixer

ok and if you create the file and add the content mentioned in the link?
you probably need to restart after that.

Hi,
same problem here. Did a fresh re-install and the sound is OK but after UP to 2014.01.15 the sound has gone away again.
Problem is inside the UP IMO.
Regards

Just did latest update (Update Pack 2014.04.15) and my sound went off too. I don't want to have to reinstall Solydk. What should I do?

I had a no sound issue as well. It seems as though the sound card was forgotten. I ran alsactl init and here are the results

Code: Select all

alsactl init
Found hardware: "HDA-Intel" "SigmaTel STAC9271X" "HDA:83847626,107b7200,00100201" "0x107b" "0x7200"
and of course the sound is back.I hope this helps someone else.
