Nvidia and Plymouth

Postby palimmo » 18 Aug 2017 23:05

Unfortunately, as with SolydK8, with Stretch the plymouth situation is pretty the same:
Plymouth display just 3 terrible dots on a black screen.

do you any idea how to get a decent bootscreen?
event a static image (e.g. solydk logo) with no animation at all would be nice!
thanks!

Moreover:
do you remember how to remove the nvidia logo at boot?
In the past was possible editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf (but now there is no such file) with a few code lines or launching sudo nvidia-xconfig --no-logo (but in stretch the package is deprecated and not installed on my system...)
EDIT: creating /etc/X11/xorg.conf was enough. Logo disappeared.

Last year I have created a single image plymouth theme for this reason and it did not solve this problem with nvidia. I've removed those themes from the repositories for solydxk-9 and solydxk-10.

I'm afraid you'll have to do without plymouth :(
