It looks like Firefox sees EOL in the near future: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2020/08/1 ... g-mozilla/. Mozilla's layoffs (a quarter of its staff) reportedly only hit developers. This doesn't sound promisiong neither for Firefox and even less for Thunderbird (if they still support it at all). And Google might face monopoly investigations soon.

Well apparently Google does not want monopoly investigations and continues to generously fund Mozilla. The contract has been renewed. But Firefox now won't get a new engine (the servo team got layed off) , the threat management team is reportedly gone and the developer tools and the Mozilla Developer Network – essential ressources for web devs - lost most of its staff.

Mozilla wants to concentrate on "building new products" with "focus on economics".
