Linux Lite

Talking about SolydXK, another distribution or totally off-topic but within the Rules ? It's the right place!

Linux Lite

Postby MAYBL8 » 23 Apr 2015 13:57

I just downloaded this Distribution and installed to a Virtual Box to see what it was like.
Can't really tell from a system performance point of view in a VirtualBox but one thing I was curious about.
It is based on Ubunty "trusty". I thought that "tusty" was a stable version of Ubuntu. I could be wrong.
If that is true how come it has a newer version of Libre Office than I have with Debian "testing"?
Just curious if there is an answer to that.
Thanks
Dan

Interesting statement from that wiki:
Ubuntu releases (whether LTS or non-LTS) include software that is more up-to-date than the software in the Debian Unstable branch when developers believe it will benefit their users.

the actual reason is because debian testing was in freeze period for several months, thus, we were stuck with older libreoffice. after jessie release new updates will comes into testing.
