Parallel builds

Talking about SolydXK, another distribution or totally off-topic but within the Rules ? It's the right place!

Parallel builds

Postby belze » 09 Jun 2017 21:54

I don't know if a better section could be used, so forgive me if i'm writing in the wrong place.

When dkms is compiling my ugly nvidia drivers i see just one one my eight cores at 100%. Often (always) i'm in hurry, so i'd like to use what in gentoo's world is called MAKEOPTS (i love gentoo).
I googled a bit and i saw debian should have parallel builds using dkms, but htop tells me this is not the truth.

Do you have any suggestion or manuals to point me to?

Thanks in advice

IIRC the process is defined on the makefile. you can get them either in the kernel source code or the module's source code. though, the process can also defined in the command line.

Thanks. I'll try to look further in this issue. I'd like to be more productive.
