Quidsup reviews SolydX

Postby Evil-K » 01 Jun 2013 02:02

Very thorough review of SolydX by a very well-respected Linux reviewer. Gave it a very respectable 85%!

So, how come no one's reviewing SolydK?

Wow, it's both great the dedoimedos did review it (he's a very big name reviewer), and that he was so positive. He can sometimes be... picky  so it's great to see that he liked it.

Just found another review (both this and dedoimedos' review are in the reviews section of distrowatch :D ): http://dasublogbyprashanth.blogspot.com ... 30406.html. Only read the last paragraph (don't have time to read the whole thing right now; will read later), but that part was also very positive 8-)

Wow, that wasn't there this morning. Are they monitoring all blogs, or something?

Love him or loath him, dedoimedo has never, ever pulled his punches. I often do not see what he sees, often disagree with his analyses, and often think he's just too picky, but I have never, ever seen him less than totally honest with his readers.

Can't ask for more than that.

OK, you're not going to like this one. It's really not about SolydXK per se, but....

I like this one: he's quiet funny, nothing new in his rant, but still funny.

The funny thing is, I agree with a lot of his ideas, but, being a recent apostate to Ubuntu/Canonical, his columns have devolved into meaningless rants and tirades. He's reacting to the Ubuntu fanbois' attacks on him by becoming one himself.

Too bad.

Yep, the difficulty he experienced with mounting samba/cifs drives is very to the point.
Since SolydXK aims to be simple to use, we need to do something about that, even more so for new users gradually leaving from Windows.

I will come back shortly with more information towards a solution.
