In my opinion, I think the Go-Betweens were the best Aussie band ever.

Guess who the lead guitar player is. This is 1968.

This was an easy one for me because the lead guitar player way back in 1968 became a bowhunter like me. The lead guitar player is Ted Nugent who still bowhunts today. I don't know if Ted bowhunts with a compound bow or recurve bow, but I bowhunt with a recurve bow. Below is Ted singing the same song in 2009.

I don't know much about Bob Dylan except that he toured the UK in about 1966 where this photo was taken.

I am mindful of this because I live not far from the location, which is at Aust. His car was waiting for the ferry to cross the River Severn from the English side to the Welsh side at Chepstow. He was travelling from Bristol to Cardiff, and I believe he had been boo-ed at Bristol for using an electric guitar for the first time.

The ferry was replaced by a bridge soon after, and if you look carefully you can see it nearing completion in the mist above the car roof. I think it was the longest bridge in the world for a time. It is in danger of falling down now, and there is a newer bridge a few miles downstream. When you see the traffic thundering across the new 6-lane bridge and compare it with the quiet scene here, you realise how much things have changed since Dylan's time.

You can still see the remains of this pier today, this stone part and and the rotted wooden piles across the mud and out into the water in the background. The ferry boat that carried him, the Severn Princess, now lies beached a short way up the tributary River Wye at Chepstow, just behind the Tesco car park where I do my shopping.

This photo became an icon of Dylan. It was the poster picture for the film about his life, "No DIrection Home".

Now that my kids are big enough I dared to recover my records and record player from the attic. Every day I take my time to browse my records, take out the black vinyl, put it on the record player, clean it with a special brush while it turns and carefully put down the needle. Now, my kids prefer records instead of music from the NAS.

What I didn't know is that there is a real revival of vinyl! So...I've been buying some vinyl of the albums I regularly listen to. One of the first was "Build a Rocket Boys!" by Elbow.
