roughly she is saying

Ai that no one returns
to whom has already left
nobody drops the big wheel
nobody knows where they went

Ai that nobody remembers
nor dreamed that,
and that boy sings
the song of the shepherd.

Offshore still burns
the barque of fantasy,
and my dream ends late
soul leaves the lookout.
Offshore still burns
the barque of fantasy,
and my dream ends late
I did not want to wake up

Offshore still burns
the barque of fantasy,

soul leaves the lookout.
Offshore still burns

and my dream ends late
I did not want to wake up.

Não foi nada meu irmão

Well I'm sure you figured out from my earlier post; that my Portuguese language skills come via Google. However, my heritage is Portuguese, my 9th great-grandfather sailed into Canada where he married a French girl and changed his name from Joao Rodriques to Jean Rodrigue (and has since been changed to Roderick). Which explains why until three years ago I had no idea where my family name originated from. When I asked my father about the origin of our family name all I got was, "I think it might be either French or Scottish".

A true story - (After which I will quit and promise never to hi-jack this thread again ;) ).
This is from a period, before I knew anything about having a Portuguese heritage.

I was attending my wife's mother's funeral; standing with other members of the family while people came by and gave their condolences. Near the end of the line, a little, elderly lady came up to my wife and said, "Your husband is handsome, he's Portuguese isn't he." (The handsome part having entirely to do with her being elderly, polite and very likely, visually impaired.)

Anyway, I smiled and told her no, my heritage was Italian, Irish and French, but not Portuguese. She then replied without hesitation, "No, you are Portuguese, as well." Her audacity and confidence both surprised and humored me but I chalked it up to age, so I answered politely, with a smile, "No, I'm sorry but I think you are wrong." At which point, she calls over her husband and daughter and they look me over and then they both declare, that yes, I am indeed, Portuguese. "We are Portuguese and we have traveled to Portugal many times and we have always lived among Portuguese people and we know Portuguese people when we see them and you are Portuguese."

After they left, my wife smiled and said something to the effect "wasn't that cute, how they kept insisting that you were Portuguese." And my response was, "You know what, I think they're right." And, as it turned out, they were right.

Later after I found out, what truly amazed me about the whole incident, beyond her assumption that she could know more about my family than I did, just by looking at me, was the genetic traits she recognized in me were more than three hundred years old.

[WARNING]

As you might already know: I play the Uilleann pipes and I love Irish folk (and that's a bit of an understatement).
This tune is called "Mike in the wilderness", and is played by one of my most favorite pipers: Jerry 'O Sullivan. This particular tune is not Irish, but some of you might recognize its origin.

So, if you can't stand folk and despise the sound of bagpipes, skip this, and never look back. :D

Yes, same here, "She's the One", is among my all time favorites but by the time "Born in the USA" came around I was losing interest. Here is a cut from one of the few artists who always managed always to stay fresh for me. Freddy Koella does some low key but impressive guitar work on the intro. Mink Deville, sorry make that Willey closes with some nice vocal work.
