Switch off update manager ?

Postby Rocky » 07 Oct 2014 21:42

I appreciate the thinking behind the update manager but I find that the update manager causes a delay after logging in whilst it checks if any updates are available.

In any case I feel more comfortable doing and apt-get update/apt-get upgrade periodically to receive available upadtes ( only security really on the BE). Can I just disable the UM to stop it checking on log-in ?

I am not using the BE in a business environment - using it rather to be on the Debian stable base.

If you don't need it, you can simply remove it:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge updatemanager
