[SOLVED] can't get latest ddm updated

Postby Fargo » 21 Feb 2015 00:31

I'm running the BE on Wheezy Stable. I got a notification in the update manager that I have updates but I am unable to install the updates. When I try to update via update manager, I get a message that my system is up to date.

If I try dist-upgrade I get:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
...
The following packages have been kept back:
ddm
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

So I try this

Code: Select all

sudo apt install ddm

and get this result

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ddm : Depends: python3:any (>= 3.3.2-2~) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

It appears to me the latest ddm requires a newer version of python than what is available in the Wheezy repo. This could pose serious issues if update manager or other SolydXK tools also move to the newer version.

Please let me know of there is something I am missing here.

Wheezy has version 3.2.3-6 which is even newer.
Have you checked your sources.list: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1529
What does this command return:

Code: Select all

apt policy python3

Did you try to install python3 manually (what messages did you get)?

I have to rectify myself.
My previous post is in error: DDM needs 3.3 and Wheezy has 3.2

I'll check it out.

I've updated some packages after testing them on Wheezy.
Please run these commands in terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update; sudo apt dist-upgrade

Suggestion for the next release of the DDM.
Could we see in the Description of the Driver listed the Version of the Driver and whethere it is installed or needs to be installed?
Thanks
Dan

I've opened update manager and it looks like it will install a new update manager. Do you want me to install via update manager or do you need me to run the code for trouble shooting for others?

EDIT:

I updated the update manager and ddm 2.0.5 appears available now. If you need feedback from the code, I can run that. Otherwise, it looks like the update manager should take care of it. Just let me know if you need it run any specific way for testing the system for others. But from what I see in Update Manager it looks like it should go.

I just wanted to clarify that I ran the Update Manager and everything now installs the way it should. Thank you Schoelje. I've marked the thread SOLVED.
