System Log Viewer crashing after update

Postby ess82 » 19 Jul 2014 17:55

Hello guys, I just updated to newest version and had loads of errors (X related) after restart, but system started OK, so went to check them out via the system log viewer and it starts, but when I want to filter kernel or system messages only, it crashes every time, says:

Executable: ksystemlog PID:6986 Signal: Segmentation Fault (11)

anyone else having this as well?

I don't know about the KDE version, but the gnome version (gnome-system-log (3.9.90-2)) is SWEET!

Thanks for the clue!

BTW - this thing is running nicely with no hiccups.

My KDE System Log viewer did not crash filtering on kernel and system.
Let's get some system info:

Code: Select all

inxi -b
and post what it returns.

I just clicked on the System log button and it did crash the same as you.
Time to do some google searching.

Edit number 2:
I found that running ksystemlog from the konsole works just fine.

Edit number 3:
I found that if I goto edit applictions (Right clicking on the kde launcher icon) and navigate to system ksystemlog, goto the advanced tab and remove the checkmark that says Run as a different user it doesn't crash.
I don't know exactly what that does but it seems to function ok after doing that.
