Installing Variety backdrop changer

Postby bvpainter » 25 Aug 2014 13:29

I would like to install Variety the wallpaper changer program, but though there is a Ubuntu ppa, there does not appear to be one for Debian, as the link to a .deb file is broken.

I am using SolydX.

I presume that I cannot install using the Ubuntu ppa, so is there anyother way of installing this program.

Makulu includes it. I guess you can borrow it from their repos.
This likely means that your installation is broken. -Mr Pixbuf.

Ooops, sorry. It's not Makulu, It's Manjaro KDE.

You can get a deb here

Xfce can change wallpapers without having to install an addon.
settings manager/desktop.
A wallpapers list can be generated which can be used to select a different backdrop at an interval determined by the user, randomly if desired.

I have the answer to this:
Click on the link that says the DEB file.
It will go to an error page.
Search for the word Variety
Click on the Variety link.
Scroll down and click on external downloads
Click on the first link for the latest Variety version
scroll down and you will see a Variety _All.Deb file.
