LightDM use user wallpaper

Postby J.Jay » 12 Nov 2014 21:42

Allways come back :D

Does the lightdm-manager allow for the backgound (wallpaper) to change per user (when icon shows) like the current 'Buntu & derivitives?

Thank You

I don't see how a login screen could change the background per-user since when you think about it, if you haven't logged in yet, how would it know which background to use? Unless it's using the background of the last logged in user in the distros you mentioned?

LightDM is very lightweight so it probably wouldn't have those extra features.

Not sure how either
BUT
the latest Xubuntu do 14.04 & 14.10, you can even check using live disk (create a user with different wallpaper then logout and switch users in in login screen using arrow both icon & wallpaper will change.)

:!: Maybe a function of xfdesktop 4.11 or light locker :?
P.S. (also the 14.10 ubuntu mate version does)

ubuntu uses a specific greeter (1)(2) for its lightdm implementation and as usual with ubuntu not easy to port to other distros (3)

(1) https://launchpad.net/unity-greeter
(2) http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/unity-greeter
(3) https://answers.launchpad.net/unity-gre ... ion/227332
bliss of ignorance
