[solved] www-data user and apache2 service

Postby freedom » 21 Aug 2015 20:39

Hi all SolydXK fans! :D

I have a question about www-data user and why it is running apache2 service on my laptop after install?
I don't recall I have been asked about web server or such things during install process and I certainly don't want
to run web server on laptop anyway.

thanks

Firstly, let me welcome you to SolydXK forums and I trust that you will enjoy using this great distro. If you would like to post in the "Introduce yourself" section it will be great to hear a bit more about who you are and how you got here!

Regarding apache2, this is not installed on my SolydX system and so it would help if you would advise which particular release of SolydXK you have installed. Have you manually installed apache2 or any other application that requires a web server?

Please open a terminal and post the full output of the following four commands:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/lsb-release
uname -a
apt policy apache2
inxi -r
In order to make the output easily readable on the forums, please enclose each output in "code" tags. e.g.

Code: Select all
my output text
Note that there is a "Code" button at the top of the forum editing window which does this automatically for any highlighted text.

Hi and thank you for your welcome.
I will surely go to Introduce section as soon I decide I'm staying on Solyd ground :D

And regarding your questions, no I did not install apache2. It's on fresh install SolydK

apache2 is not part of SolydXK.
It must have been a dependency of a package you installed after the initial system install.

SolydXK needs you!

Yep...
apps from welcome screens...

dolibar, letodms... needs php and php needs apache
and there you have it

Uninstalled all :ugeek:

p.s.
aptitude is a good tool for uninstall because it removes dependencies also (not needed for other packages)
and you will need to delete www-data user manually (if you want)
