Rather than a question, I found a solution. The last few times I've installed SolydK I've wanted to install SecondLife but got killed by the dependency on ia32-libs, which isn't available on Debian Jessie. Every now and then I do a search on DDG to try to find a solution and today I found one. The Alchemy viewer is available for 64-bit Linux distros, and when I unzipped it and ran it from a terminal it logged me into SL without a single complaint.
If you used to run SecondLife and wished you could do it again Alchemy may be just what the doctor ordered.
Questions about software.
