(Solved) Akonadi Broken

Postby Refugee » 08 Nov 2016 19:39

Good afternoon,

Akonadi and Mysql updated a few days ago on a SolydK installation and I am now unable to execute Kjots as Akonadi is crashing. For better or worse, I've relied heavily on kjots for many years and it holds a substantial amount of information, so this is a bit stressful. I did copy
/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kjots/
to a separate Solydk installation and it does run but the last 2 years of data is missing. The missing data appears to correspond to the last execution of "kjotsmigrator" in 2014 (I am unfamiliar with its precise purpose).

At least a portion of the issue, I assume, is here (akonadi self-test):

Code: Select all

Failed to access directory for --secure-file-priv. Please make sure that directory exists and is accessible by MySQL Server. Supplied value : /var/lib/mysql-files
The "mysql-files" is missing.

Any help would be grealty appreciated, I greatly appreciate your time. Please let me know what info I can provide that will be helpful.

Re: (Edit) Akonadi Broken

The issue is strictly Akonadi crashing. Kjots is intact and fine.

Nobody else is experincing Akonadi crashing?

Most recent and complete Akonadi self-test:

Code: Select all

Test 5: SUCCESS
--------

No current MySQL error log found.
Details: The MySQL server did not report any errors during this startup. The log can be found in '/home/user22/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/mysql.err'.

I don't use kde (among other reasons because I hate Akonadi) so I did not read the logs you posted. So please forgive me if the information I'm asking now was already included somewhere:

Code: Select all

inxi -r
dpkg-query -l | grep ii | grep akonadi
dpkg-query -l | grep ii | grep bpo
Please post the output. Internet search shows me some bug reports https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bug ... 68748.html but I don't know which versions SolydK uses. Have a look at this one too https://debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=162889(only german, sorry) - not exactly your problem but started Monday.

Might this issue https://forums.solydxk.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=6649 be related? Or just coincidence?

Yes, the error in the referenced post looks quite similar. Same reference to:

Code: Select all

Failed to access directory for --secure-file-priv. Please make sure that directory exists and is accessible by MySQL Server. Supplied value : /var/lib/mysql-files
Thank you for the help.

The information you requested:

inxi -r

I think you can start with try to manually create the folder/files mentioned in the log.

Three for three ilu.

The bug report for Bug#843520 seem to point in the same direction.

Unfortunately, the "secure_file_priv=" workaround did not work for me, although I'm not sure if I applied it correctly. Also, unless I missed something, the missing /var/lib/mysql-files file doesn't seem to be addressed. I'll have to go through the logs again.

Is it worth attempting to remove the security fix temporarily?

Much thanks for lending a hand.

@ Kurotsugi
I tried that earlier but will try again with the "secure_file_priv=" in place.

A complete reinstall of Solydxk, reusing /home, did not remedy the issues with akonadi. Renaming /home/user/.local/share/akonadi/ and dpkg-reconfigure of akonadi-backend-mysql and akonadi-server with a reboot appears to have brought akonadi back to functionality. The data in Kjots created after 2014 was not restored. As kjots is deprecated, however, I will cut my losses and move on. "Noblenote" seems to be an adequate replacement for Kjots.

I'm sorry you couldn't recover your data. I can't recommend a notes app but in choosing a new one I would have a close look at where your data is stored, in which format and which files you need to (separately) backup. I don't like to rely on a full-system backup where valuable data is concerned. I would even want to be able to extract single data from the database in case the system gets corrupted. Akonadi and other highly integrated systems are a p.i.t.a. because selective backup and restore will probably not work.

That's another reason why a stay clear from kde and gnome.
