appimage desktop integration and autostart

Postby bennypr0fane » 07 Jun 2019 07:07

Hi,
I didn't find Nextcloud sync client in the repos, so I downloaded it directly from their homepage. It's an appimage file, but i'd like to make it autostart and show up in my app menu. how does that work?
It's already activated in the list of autostart apps in system settings, but not working.

Have a look at https://docs.appimage.org/user-guide/run-appimages.html under "Integrating AppImages into the desktop". I think that's the problem.

Gals 'n guys, please please look at the docs at least once before asking ... ... 2 minutes of search fu ...

Instead of trying to get the appimage integrated in your system I would prefer to get a debian package from one of the sources mentioned here https://help.nextcloud.com/t/linux-pack ... atus/10216.

Thanks for the suggestion to install a deb package - it's been a while since I've used Debian-based. In fact, it turns out there *is* a nextcloud package in the Debian Stretch-backports which I just installed.
Sorry for being so quick to post, I did perform a quick, but lazy search which wasn't successful (often the right search term only hits me after I already posted, and sometimes not at all).
