[SOLVED] Program doesn't start correctly

Postby SolydForEver » 12 Jun 2019 18:40

Hi, in 2017 I also wrote about this problem, back then in SolydK8 and now after 2 years I have it again, now in 9.
The original thread is: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7029&p=66460#p66460

I did install the Dutch edition of SolydK9 and also the Dutch version of the Cewe Photoservice program (cewe.nl), a program to create photo-albums.
When I start it now in a terminal I get this:

Code: Select all

I (2019-06-12T20:33:25.926) [void CWLogMessageHandler::writeLogHeader() 236] ==> Compiled: Apr 15 2019 14:14:56 <==

As I wrote I use the Dutch ISO file, language and settings are set to Dutch, keyboard however is English-US.
When I type locale in a terminal I get this:

Code: Select all

LC_ALL=
Because of the rror messages at the start I am thinking about locale settings, but I have no clue which one and where.
In the original thread Arjen asked about this code:

Code: Select all

apt search libpng | grep ^i
Which gives me:

Thanks for your help.

The only empty string is LC_ALL. You could try to set that to dutch too. But it's something with the Qt Webengine and your graphics. Search the internet for "locale_file_path.empty() for locale", there's a lot of different programs having similar problems.

CEWE has their own support forum - why not go there? Here is something partly similar: https://www.cewe-community.com/forum/fb ... =2&t=12233.

Thank you Ilu. I did search the internet and found this site:
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-se ... inux-unix/
Where I saw this info:

Code: Select all

View/set global locale for all users on a Debian or Ubuntu Linux
To see which locales are supported on Debian/Ubuntu, enter:
$ locale -a|more

To set the locales for all users, enter:
$ sudo locale-gen en_IN
$ sudo locale-gen en_IN.UTF-8

Finally run:
$ sudo update-locale
I did all that and while the outcome of the locale command is still the same as before, LC_ALL is still empty, it now works. Maybe I just needed to do the final command to update the locale settings. No idea.
But it works, and that's what counts.

Thanks again.
