Is there a way to change the highlight for selected text in Gimp?

Postby BostonPeng » 27 Aug 2019 20:29

I often work with text in Gimp but it's a royal PITA trying to select the right font when the highlight color makes it impossible to see what the text looks like. A case in point:

Where would I change the color showing what text is selected?

Sorry, but as far as I know there is no way of changing the highlight colors.

If the text layer is rasterized, then you can’t edit the text. You might have to create a new text layer, and delete or simply hide the old one.

However if the text layer is still an editable text layer, then just mouse over it with the Text tool selected, and click in the text.

The cursor will appear in the text, and you can then edit it.

Thanks, Pagaresav, but you completely missed the point of my question.

I ended up just changing my font to black so it shows up through the highlight then changing it to the color I want to use. It's a bit of a kludge but it's a viable workaround. I'd change the title to show the issue's resolved but it really isn't. If I end up finding an answer to my question I'll add it and mark the thread [SOLVED] then.
