[Request] Pale Moon

Postby GDI » 09 Sep 2014 22:09

I hope this is posted in the correct place. I would like to request to have the Pale Moon web browser added to the SolydXK home edition repositories if possible. If more information is needed on Pale Moon it can be found here. http://www.palemoon.org/

Thanks!

I just tried using the (Pale Moon Installer) pminstaller-0.1.5.tar.bz2 from the sourceforge link. http://sourceforge.net/projects/pm4linux/files/ in SolydX64. Palemoon installs fine, but the conflict with the GTK2 theme, oxygen-gtk still has not been fixed. I switched to the Adwaita theme and then it worked fine.

I tried it back in March, because I'm not a fan of Australis.. Experienced the same issue and left it alone, went back to FF. I'm not what you'd call an aesthetically minded person and always just use default themes. Pretty thick-headed, I know... Whenever I do get involved in theming, it seems I get sucked in for a week and don't get anything done! Back in the Win days I always used classic, and never messed with the eye-candy aero stuff.

Looks like there might be some theming changes in the works for Solyd. I might try Pale Moon again later on...

I had done that also and was getting the same conflicts with oxygen-gtk as you described, so I uninstalled pale moon. After reading your response this am, I went back, reinstalled, changed to Adwaita, and violia, success! :D I also tried it with Raleigh, and it works with that also. I dont know why I didnt think of trying that (guess the old brain cells aint what they used to be :( ), but I sure am glad you responded with a cure. Thanks!

Can't get pminstaller to run:

Code: Select all

/home/dcihon/Downloads/pminstaller-0.1.6/pminstaller.sh: line 22: /tmp/pminstaller.M9jLxt/tools/runasroot: Permission denied

Curious. There's also this:
MAYBL8 wrote:Any idea why I might get this when installing apt-listchanges:

Code: Select all

...
Can't exec "/tmp/apt-listchanges.config.ls9Tas": Permission denied at /usr/share/perl/5.20/IPC/Open3.pm line 177.
open2: exec of /tmp/apt-listchanges.config.ls9Tas configure failed at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/ConfModule.pm line 59.
...
And now I wonder what the permissions on your /tmp directory are. Could you show us the result of

Code: Select all

ls -dl /tmp
If it doesn't start with drwxrwxrwt, you need to

Code: Select all

sudo chmod 1777 /tmp

Right. That's not it then. In that case, I'm out of ideas.

Well now I have bigger problems. Looks like a reinstall is about to happen.
That will probably fix all my issue.
I am in Debian Testing now and after last update I am booting to a control-d prompt.
There was some kind of grub update that didn't go to well.
Thanks for trying to help

Any Palemoon users here know how to start palemoon in Private Browser Mode?
I've searched and can't find the answer.
Looks like you have to start it and then open a window in Private Window to use it.

Type this in a console:

Code: Select all

palemoon -private

Did you upgrade to v26? if so it's a user agent problem, read this link.

It happened to me as well, after I changed the user agent from this link it worked again.
