Re: SolydXK's TODO List

Postby Arjen Balfoort » 03 May 2015 06:25

Hi jbeukelman,

My apologies for my late reply. I totally missed your post.

The update manager currently is functional and has less priority than the live installer. I need to port that to python3 and I want to create an OEM installer. If you want you can help there or if you see improvements or new features for other tools you'd make a lot of people very happy ;)

I haven't made a tracking list, simply because I'm the only developer for SolydXK and maintaining that would only take more of my valuable free time.

No problem. I'll start working on porting the live installer over to py3. I think there is an OEM installer thread already. I'll give it another read.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

That would be awesome!
Let me know if you need anything.

I just updated the live-installer repository on GitHub: https://github.com/SolydXK/live-installer
You need to check out the "solydxk_changes" branch.

I hope to be ready to start working on something by end of next week, if all goes well. Is the OP the updated list or can you give a list of programs still needing a developer?

The live installer has the biggest priority right now.

However, I am also considering to rewrite some administrative packages (like DDM) to integrate into systemsettings (and what is the Xfce version called?). Perhaps you could look into that?

If I remember right XFCE had a system settings but also all the system settings were in a sub menu as well. I don't have XFCE right now (just SolydK) VM but I can always download the ISO for XFCE and set things up, no problems there.

BTW, when are the production ISOs with Jessie due to hit the web site? Should I wait for those or when I'm ready (probably next weekend around 15th) to go ahead and just download what is there and update it from there?

So to get things right, you would like to integrate DDM into System Settings so that there's an icon for Device Driver Manager in System Settings (and in the case of XFCE a menu item), right? I can look into that, sure thing.

For Xfce, this is xfce4-settings. Have a look here: http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings/4.10/start and there :https://packages.debian.org/jessie/xfce4-settings
They did not know it was impossible so they did it.

Thanks, Ane. These links will be very useful for me. I'm going to set up my SolydX VM today and play around with it and see what I can come up with.

Please add "lvm2" in the SolydK installer to support the planned RAID capabilities. Thanks!

Are you using AppIndicator3 under Xfce too or is that something else?
I can't figure out any pattern when and why the indicator gets stuck on Xfce. It just happens randomly.

Two suggestions:
- it would be very nice to have the touchpad left click ("tapping with one finger") working by default (like in many other distros).
- super-key as default keyboard shortcut for the kickoff menu would be the most intuitive choice.

Please help me with which config files I have to change with what to get these things changed (for both Xfce and KDE4/5).

Unfortunately I have no idea.
- For "tapping with one finger" in SolydK I just changed this behaviour in synaptics -> touchpad configurations -> tapping.
- For super-key if i'm not wrong I used these instructions http://forums.solydxk.nl/viewtopic.php? ... 310#p12828 posted by an other SolydK user.
