I very much agree.
I've updated the OP and uploaded an updated version of firefox-solydxk-adjustments.
This will only help newly created user accounts.

Mozilla is again trying to square the circle (= earn money with targeted advertising while keeping user privacy), apparently again without user consent: https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases ... d-content/. They'll soon start a test run in the US. At least it's opt-out but really should be opt-in.

Sigh. extension.pocket.enabled = false ?

[rant]From Mozillas point of view it has to be opt-out because nobody in his or her right mind would opt in. If nobody wants to see that content anyway, who the hell is paying for stuff like this? Nowadays, whenever I see advertising for anything I make a note to myself: Don't buy this. If you buy you'll pay for this stupid annoyance, so go buy something else instead. Companies are just lucky that for me (using uBlock) the internet is mostly ad-free. Are there really enough people that are fooled by "sponsored" content to make this worth the money?[/rant]

It's already part of firefox-solydxk-adjustments:

Code: Select all

user_pref("extensions.pocket.enabled", false); // Disable Pocket

Just FYI (I know serviceworkers are already set to false):
https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/primers/service-workers/ wrote:Using service worker you can hijack connections, fabricate, and filter responses. Powerful stuff.
... and we'd need https to make sure the hijacking and fabrication is done by the right server. Everything you would expect from your browser, right?
