Hi from The Netherlands!!

Postby rijnsma » 21 May 2013 22:07

Still I'm fond of playing with computers and software although there is nothing very special anymore to it in fact.
I prefer the tastes of Linux. I am a first hour computerfreak.
I did build them, I did program in assembler and a lot of languages, but now that is aging I'm afraid to notice.
I began with Unior of Elektuur, then Atari's ST, Falcon en after that the IBM-likes.

Tablets-hype and the removal of Xfce from Mint rang me a bell and forced me to look around a little, so I can
use Linux still for a very long time I hope. I did the same with the dissapearance of old Gnome and KDE 3.5 etc. and
it payed off.

About what SolydXK concernes, Xfce is fine with me, it's my day to day desktop, KDE is also very usable now. After years.
I have a multibot system, so I can esperiment a lot with other distro's en desktops. Mint's, PCLOS, LMDE, Debian, Xubuntu.
MATE, KDE, LXDE, Xfce. All great. And I'm happy I still can install them on an Asus UEFI PC.

What you have done with SolydX in a rather short time (I believe) is great.
I am very interested and I'm experimenting with it a lot.

There's only one hickup at the moment, not all repo-indexes do download.

All the best and greetings. Best regards, rijnsma.

Hi rijnsma, and welcome to our forum!
Good to see another fellow countryman in here.

About your repo-index issue: can you post the output from your terminal?
I've updated several systems today, and haven't had a problem.

SolydXK needs you!
