That said, I do have an appreciation of wallpapers. ;)

No problems after RTFM on Update Manager. I even tried to break it by closing update process and then fixing with

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --configure -a

Even had a server down. But no biggie. Easy Peasy. Lemon Squeezy.

Can you share the wallpaper?

This is my desktop at the moment, but it can change any minute. It depends on the mood I'm in.

I did install quite a few programs and they are all, with the exception of Chrome and Libreoffice 5 from the default repos. Tried Chromium but couldn't watch TV so I had to switch to Chrome which does make it possible.
Used to have 6 desktops (virtual of course), I now divided the icons in groups on 1 desktop. Has both advantages and disadvantages.

It is a simple screen, no picture so the icons are clearly visible, as is the conky on the right side. As themes I used oxygen for everything. Looks good, at least to me.

I really like the dashboard on the side:)

This is how it looks now:

Completely different. It's Breeze light theme for everything, it's a light colored picture, actually a slideshow with around 10 different penguin pictures. No Conky anymore, no icons, no visible panel, just the picture.
I set up a lot of shortcuts in KDE with which I start programs, alt-tab gets me to the next program window. No need for a panel, although I still have one but I rarely see it.

Another reason why you should move to KDE.

This is mine.
It is not so creative as many shown above, but I like simplicity and a good contrast.

SolydM, a work in progress. SolydX with Mate desktop.
I harvested the Conky from Pinguy back when they were using Gnome 2... I have edited it thru the years and use it on all of my machines.
Conky is obviously not tailored to this environment, I will do that after I make a permanent install.

This is my first Solyd install, and I think I have decided to stay with it.
