Icons in different colors

Postby ilu » 26 May 2015 12:14

I would like to have some standard icons in different colors, f.e. the terminal icon with a red, blue, green, yellow screen or the filesystem icon with different colored circles on it. I installed a lot of stuff called "something-icon-theme" but that brought flashy stuff in a completely new style but the only other terminal icon i got was one with a red screen.

I tried to recolor the icon myself but I probably picked the wrong resolution because the new icon did not show up in xfce's icon dialog. And it was much too much work anyway, I' ve no experience with picture manipulation.

Does somebody know an icon set using different colors for the same icon (terminal, filesystem, maybe the wheel used when there is no dedicated icon)?

noobslab (http://www.noobslab.com/) have quite a lot of theme collection, including lot of icons. some of the icons have multiple color theme. I'm currently using mint-x icons which quite nice on my system. I take that one directly from lmde, but I recall noobslab also have same icon set.

the method described in the articel is using PPA so it won't work. instead of it you can add this line into your repo list.

Code: Select all

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/noobslab/icons/ubuntu trusty main
#after that, do
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install <icon name>
you'll got a warning, telling you that the repo is not safe but you can ignore it.
