conky

Postby unklar » 29 Jun 2013 11:47

Hi,

I need a larger logo solydxk.
This is 48x48 pixels and 3.6 KiB too small.
From 60x60 would be just right for the clock.
Does anyone have any advice?

BostonPeng has some images up that seem larger,

If it's not large enough, perhaps he can give some pointers.

That looks amazing, unklar!

Do you think this is scriptable?
In other words: could I make a solydk-conky package?

Love that conky! Only problem is... i really don't know how to set up a conky. I always struggle with it. Love to see that on my SolydX desktop!

Any how-to would be very nice!

@unklar
I will look at it tonight, when the kids are in bed.
Let's see if we can package this!

[EDIT]
I think it's possible.
However, the weather thingy needs manual configuration (I don't know where the user's system is located, and what area code is needed).
Setup is going to be tricky: I need to find out the system's configuration before writing the config files.

Do you actually need to know Swap?
I suppose for most users it's always "0"?
Show battery percentage instead of swap sounds more practical to me.
What do you think?

Yes.
Above it is indeed a desktop.

For example, for a laptop ...

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner, but you can find SolydK logo icons in /usr/share/solydxk.nlmon/artwork/logos/. There's also an SVG there and it's where I found the logos I use.

I tried to simplify the .conkyrc file.
When I package this I need to generate this file according to what's in the system.
I wrote some TODO's in the file.

Can somebody check, and improve when necessary?

@Schoelje,

super! :D

1.conkyrc
You have harddisk swapped with BAT

2.Thus, a display will appear in the BAT ring must be in Lua scripts ( /home/user/.lua/scripts/clock_rings.lua )
'swapperc'
after
'battery_percent BAT0'
be changed

TODO better? ;)

The font size is due to the different resolutions
the user is also a problem ...

This almost makes me want to run conky, but I'm not sure how well it would play with the rest of my desktop and I don't want to have to drop what I have now, epsecially since I have it just the way I like it. 8-)

I'm working on the package now.
It's going to work on SolydX (orange theme) and SolydK (blue theme).

I only need to find out how to enable composoting in ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml with a command (it'll be likely a sed command).

Conky is configured per user. So, dpkg (the package handler) cannot do that. I had to make a compromise: a script that you can run from the menu, or from terminal, with which you kan configure, kill, start, or remove the Conky theme for the current user.

Almost there, but not before the next UP (hopefully before my holidays on monday, though).
